New Product: Bona Naturale Finish
This finish was introduced this year and we used it on a couple of floors this Fall. The sheen is very low luster, and there is a special "feel" to finish that Bona describes as a "haptic" property, which is a texture that feels leathery to the touch. Bona Naturale gives excellent slip resistance, makes scratch marks less visible, and yet preserves the natural look of wood. The durability is equal to BonaKemi's top-rated TRAFFIC finish. We have used it in homes with large dogs, and heavy foot traffic, and owners are reporting good results back to us.
Repairs
We are often called in to repair water-damaged floors, or to correct improperly sanded/finished floors.Often new homes receive only two coats of finish on the floors when the home is built. Within five years or so, the finish wear may have worn through, requiring re-sanding and finishing.
Older homes often have been victims of do-it-yourself sanders using rental equipment. Pets, water from planters, carpet shampooing also impacts older floors over the years. Usually all of these conditions can be overcome with re-sanding and finishing.

Extending Existing Floors
Many newer homes have hardwood entrys, hallways and kitchens but the family room is carpeted. We can usually "lace" a new floor into the old floor so that it all appears to be an original installation when done.
Note: Selection of the wood is important in achieving seamless results.

Custom Staining
The last 15 years has been a period where "natural" finishes were used extensively. Over time, most floors yellow with age, and have a "dated" appearance. Even though the floor and finish are in good condition, they just don't match the rest of the décor. A stain will often provide an entirely new look, and stained floors tend to be more color-fast than natural floors.
75 Years and Still Going StrongMany people have oak floors that were white-washed to match cabinets that were in fashion at
the time their homes were built. These finishes didn't hold up well to daily use, and many are discouragedwith their appearance. Good news! We have done many of these floors, adding an up-to-date stain color that makes the floors look great.
Stain Removal
Some stains can be substantially removed, but run so deep that there will remain some trace of the stain. If not acceptable, we can remove the boards and completely eliminate the issue.
Medallions can be added to existing floors during the sanding and finishing process. These are works of art that transform simple Entryways and provide a special feature to other rooms. Hardwood Vents
We usually update older floors by installing new flush mounted hardwood vents to replace surface mounted metal vents. Optional adjustable dampers make the hardwood vent just as practical.
Perimeter Mouldings
Transition Strips: when the wood floor meets vinyl or tile, we like to see a wood transition strip that matches the floor. We manufacture whatever transition strip is required to make a beautiful transition between floor areas.
Baseboard Mouldings: In remodeling, we often recommend eliminating the old baseboard mouldings. They are generally beat up and have served their purpose. Very often a painted baseboard plus a quarter round moulding (shoe moulding) will make a huge difference in the appearance of the floor.
Crawl Space access covers are not usually given much attention. We can make
them functional and good looking when putting in a new floor, including
mortised, decorative finger pulls.
